  • Why are the Egyptians so Good at Squash? They cleaned up at the British Junior Open. What sets them apart from the rest?

Ramy Ashour, Farag, Gawad, the names roll off the tongue. Do we have any English players that can come through and challenge them. We have greats like Matthew and Wilstrop. But what English players can take on the mew generation???? Do we need to evolve?

  • Askern Pool League

Wow! Well I never thought I'd see the day when a few of our best players get 7-balled, not once, not twice, but 3 times in one night!! 😳😔🤦 John lost his singles, Del Marx was unlucky not to pot the black, and he left it hanging over the pocket. Rob was late coming over due to playing squash earlier, but made it with loads of time. He was the last singles. He won with a great shot on the black. Up next, 3 lots of doubles; 2 normal doubles and 1 scotch doubles. John and Mark were first up, that was the 2nd 7-ball clearance! Then it was a new pairing in Adam Holbrey and Sarah Jepson, a huge learning experience for both players, but they held their own and took it to the wire with only the black ball left to pot, Adam had a difficult angle on the black, and with the white at the other end of the table and tight up to the cushion, it was a shot too far for the new pairing, but well plawell play to both of them. Last up were Tony and Rob, and yes, it was the 3rd 7-ball clearance of the night to give the Royal Hotel the overall win of 6-3.

Tonight Woodfield are playing at The Royal Hotel in Norton. Adam Holbrey was on first and won with an amazing frame, kept his cool and got the win. Mark Freeman had an off day and was very unlucky on the break and couldn't get to the table more than twice, and unfortunately got 7-balled, which is unheard of. Next up was Tony Henderson, who very nearly did his own 7-ball clearance, but the black just wouldn't go in for him. He did eventually win with a cracking long double on the black. Next up is John Hoystead.... I'll keep you posted ☺️💪

  • Pool League

In the last games of the regular season: Woody's Lions played away at Rossington Legion in Division 1 and unfortunately lost 4-3 with only 4 players turning up. Woody's Bees in Division 1 won 4-3 but unfortunately it wasn't enough to win the league this year. And Woody's Scorpions in Division 2 lost 4-3 after going 3-1 up So Woody's Bees came 2nd, and Woody's Lions finished 3rd in Division 1 of the League. Scorpions finished 7th in Division 2 of the League, not bad for their first season. 💪
